Alejandra Mora Gallego, operational partner of ALAS Vivienda Asequible, participated in the conference “Housing from a non-profit perspective: keys to the consolidation of social housing providers in Spain”, held on June 23 in Malaga.
Her speech focused on a key message: transparency and good governance are essential to demonstrate the social impact of the Housing Associations model and to consolidate housing as a durable and stable asset.
The event, organized by ALIVAS (Alliance for Affordable and Social Housing) at the Unicaja Foundation Cultural Center, brought together representatives from the public sector, social entities, experts and financial agents to analyze the necessary conditions to scale up a model of affordable housing provision that is far removed from speculative logic.

They all agreed on one central idea: Spain needs a regulatory framework that recognizes and strengthens social housing providers, giving them legal security and facilitating their access to financing to expand stable and affordable housing solutions.
In the final dialogue table, moderated by Josune Huidobro Rodriguez (Provivienda), Alejandra Mora shared space with José María López Cerezo (AVS), Eduardo Gutiérrez (ALIVAS) and Enrique Martín Barragán – MRICS (Afi), underlining the importance of moving towards a public-social collaboration model that allows for gaining scale and guaranteeing the sustainability of the affordable housing stock in Spain.
The event was held within the framework of the project “Alliances for affordable housing from a non-profit perspective”, funded by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030, and had the collaboration of AVS Gestores Públicos, Fundación Unicaja and the Malaga City Council.
