We would like to thank Roots for Sustainability (R4S), ACCIÓ (the Agency for Business Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia), and the CSIM Real Estate Cluster for inviting us to take part in the “Créixer amb propòsit” conference, focused on corporate purpose and aimed at CEOs and business owners across Catalonia.

The participation of our CEO, Manel Rodríguez Murillo, provided an opportunity to share how, at ALAS, we understand purpose not as a simple statement, but as a framework that guides decision-making, operating models, and real impact.

Addressing a Structural Social Challenge

ALAS was founded on the belief that affordable housing is essential social infrastructure and that the private sector can make a responsible contribution when it acts with a long-term vision and limited-profit approach.

A Legal Structure that Protects Purpose

We are the first Benefit and Common Interest Company (SBIC) in Spain’s real estate sector. Our bylaws formally incorporate the commitment to generate economic, social, and environmental value, raising standards of transparency and governance.

Measurable Impact

We apply the SROI methodology to assess the impact of our investments. For us, purpose is reflected in indicators and measurable outcomes, not just in narratives.

We thank R4S for highlighting our model and for creating spaces that encourage reflection on how purpose-driven business can transform entire sectors.
